Description: Lacombe was born as a Canadian Pacific Railway spur-line town. Named after a missionary who helped broker a route through Blackfoot lands, it was originally planned by Sir Sanford Flemingto be a couple hundred kilometers north of its present location. The CPR mainline terminates in Vancouver and over the past century-and-a-quarter it is astounding to imagine the goods that have been shipped there from our siding. The latest item to make its way there will be this beer - the first in a series doen with good friends at British Columbian breweries. This brew - first conceived over beers at The Drake - is an old English stock ale. A pint of this dark malt-sweet ale would not have been out of place in a pub in our respective towns those many years ago...
